In her solo exhibition “Walk Through Me”, Katerina Mertzani pursues an ironic beauty born from the ephemeral, the trivial and the remnants. Tender, even dreamy utopias emerge from old papers, fabrics, photographs, colors and plastics. With a loving and ironic disposition towards the obsessive process of the artistic work's genesis, Mertzani's works become something like an ark for the rescue of meanings that are currently on the verge of extinction. An ark for careful observation, for the musing that takes us out of useful time. For the beauty of the random. And for the tender mood that gives birth to a piece of trash transformed into an intelligent structure and psycho-optical message.
