The New(Art)s Letter Six significant artists with long presence in the field of visual arts; six divergent visual styles which reflect on the substantial relationship and connection between the artists and the world become the projections of the artists’ own experiences and ideas, speak out of the quality and the plasticity of their visual language, document the cohesion and consistency of their artistic pursuits and choices.
Theophilos Katsipanos’ deeply human painting is presented as an apocalypse, either delusional and confessional or shut and introverted. The forms constitute a peculiar geography of the body focusing however, mainly, on the face by giving emphases on a narcissistic commitment during the creative process and by releasing energy thus, becoming emotional chargers.

On the verge of the familiar and the unfamiliar, the explicit and the implicit, Tassos Missouras’ painterly compositions invoke a deeper communication through the intensity and the evocative power of its themes. The forms prevail as if they were spectral images and they draw stories up, in compositions where the paradox coexists with the enigmatic, without however, the lack of a romantic feeling.

In Emmanouil Bitsakis’ painting, the unexpected encounters, the composition of divergent motifs, the overturn in climax of the physical order, the game between aesthetic connotations and transpositions, and the catalytic humour generate bizarre microcosms, which however, are established through a realistic visual style and an exceptional drawing excellence.

The intensity of gesture and colour, the graphical and plastic nature of forms contribute decisively to the creation of an exceptional atmosphere in the compositions of Vana Fertaki by determining the multi-referencing nature of her paintings in which different aspects of a chaotic world are imprinted in correspondence with the mental world.

In the three-dimensional works and in the sketches of Marios Fournaris, most of which have been described as “post-industrial artefacts of the intercultural perception”, the primitive co-operates with the contemporary element, the conceptual approach, the symbols and the philosophical attitude play a key role.

A dreamlike, allusive and engaging reality reveals itself in the works of Manolis Charos which develop with rhythm and communicate a direct, live and spontaneous sense. The figurative element coexists with the abstract; the drawing qualities, the shine, the richness and the sensuality of colouring tones activate a surprisingly metaphysical intensity.
